PCI USB Card Passthrough [SOLVED]

This works Great in 8.1 passthrough

I have a StarTech.com 7 Port PCI USB Card Adapter PCIUSB7 adapter

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VY53ZK/ref=oh_details_o02_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

VIA VT6212L Chipset

This card has 3 internal (2 via pins) and 4 external connectors.

Sadly it does NOT work in unraid - throwing all kinds of lovely errors to the syslog during boot and passthrough to windows 8.1 VM does not work.

I am looking for a card to allow me to hook up the front panel usb ports (2) internal and 1 Blu-Ray optical via a SATA to USB adapter (1) internal for passthrough.  At least 1 external would be nice.

Does anyone have an adapater that they are using with Unraid that WORKS?

Even better... does anyone have an adapter that has been proven to work with passthrough to 8.1?

Thank you all!

I have 3 PCI slots open and would prefer to utilize one of these slots

I also have 1 PCIe X1, and 1 PCIe X16 (4 mode) available should a PCI card be out of the equation.

My top desires are in this order

1 - work in 8.1 pass-through

2 - have 2 internal ports open for front panel connectors

3 - have an additional internal port open for my Optical drive

4 - have at least 1 external port

My many thanks!

any joy jbartlett?

FYI - Using USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 to SATA adapters does NOT work for Optical drives in USB passthrough

Thanks jbartlett - Just to clarify:  68UPPCIE-2520PU should be AK-68UPPCIE-2S20PU ?

If so this looks fantastic (for a PCIe) -  2 external 3.0 ports and an internal 20 pin for 2 more 3.0 ports

With the goal of minimizing PCIe use for 2 things: 1 BluRay burner passthrough, 1 USB card passthrough (with front port priority) I have ordered the following to try first:

PCI

*  4 SATA (only 1 needed) *** Syba SD-SATA-4P Serial ATA150 4x Ports RAID Controller Card

    SIL3114 Chipset

FOR THOSE READING - I HAVE NOT YET TESTED ANY OF THESE!

I originally mentioned that I have 2 PCIe x1 slots and 3 PCI slots free.  I believe I actually only have 1 PCIe x1 free.

Currently I am using the 2 PCEe x16 slots.  1 for my SASLP and the other for a single slot HD 7750 GPU.  I believe I will be swapping out the single slot GPU for a much more powerful dual slot GPU.

This does not leave access to the 2nd PCIe x1 so I really only have 1 to work with

- even with something like: 1X to 16X Powered PCI-E PCI Express Riser Card Extension USB 3.0 + SATA Cable

And as an aside - these work great on a SASLP (tested with 4, not 8 drives on a single breakout cable) with no noticeable speed impact
