Recovering data from a failed sytem

Many years ago I fried my first unraid server. I lost the motherboard and a couple of drives. Luckily I was able to mount the remaining drives in my windows box and used reiser tools to save some data. If I ran unraid in a xen virtual environment how would I recover data in a similar situation?
