USB devices passthrough

Featured Replies

Hi, I have succeed create a windows 7 VM with vga passthrough and usb device passthrough. Thanks for all the great guide on this forum.

However, I lose the usb devices after the VM reboot or shutdown. I have to unplug the device and plug in again or reboot the unraid dom0.

Does anyone having this issue also? Any solutions? Would it be the same if i buy a pci usb card?

I have had luck in 8.1 using a Rosewill RC-1- (4+1) PCI adapter.  This uses the NEC 720101 chipset.

No Joy with the startech PCIUSB7 PCI adapter.  This uses a VIA chipset - I believe it was marked VT6212L.

With the NEC I have had no problems with VM reboots / shutdowns and loosing USB access.

Thanks for your info. Is the startech pci adapter USB2.0? I have found a startech USB3.0 that use NEC 720202 chipset.

Not sure if it would work like NEC 720101
