May 22, 201412 yr I have a wd2500ks-00mjb0 in my unRaid server that has passed the preclear script 3 times. The issue is that this drive reports idle temperatures of 46-50 degrees and operating temperatures around 60 degrees. But as it turns out from my research online, this is due to a defect in the drive and that it is over-reporting the temperature by ~20 degrees. I have 6 drives in the unRaid server and the 5 other HDD have "normal" temperatures around 20-30 degrees. I would like to enable the unRaid Disk Temperature notifications and the Emergency unRaid Overtemp Shutdown scripts but this 1 HDD corrupts the temperature notifications and will trigger false positives for the Overtemp shutdown. Is it possible to disable the temperature monitoring for this 1 drive?
May 26, 201412 yr It is possible. But the labor required exceeds the cost of the drive. Find a high school student to edit the over temp script with an exception for the drive.
May 27, 201412 yr Author I will take a look at editing the over temp script, thanks. Agreed that the effort may exceed the cost of the drive, this drive is a temporary tool (cache drive) while I continue to build and tweak the design of my unraid server.
June 2, 201412 yr I'm interested in the solution of this problem. I also have such a drive in my array! Please post your findings rolly!
June 2, 201412 yr Author I've eyeballed the script and I have an idea but I wont have time to work on this for a couple of weeks. I will post my results as soon as I have them
