May 24, 201412 yr My server (5.05) runs CouchPotato, Sabnzbd & Sickbeard from source- meaning it downloads/updates each time the machine is restarted. This setup has served me well; since both reboots and internet failures are rare. Last night, however, I had both occurrences overlap...and discovered my server basically will NOT restart if an internet connection isn't available during boot. I'm guessing I could safe-boot to bring the server online, but I would rather have things such that the programs (if the internet isn't available) continue (time-out?) with the last downloaded version. As-is, things just came to a halt because CouchPotato couldn't find/contact github....and Sabnzbd & Sickbeard....they never even tried to load. I really want my server to be able to do an unattended restart (thinking prolonged power failure)- and come-up in a condition that allows it to resume downloading when the internet connection is restored.... not half-loaded & stalled... Is this do-able? If so, how? Thanks!
May 24, 201412 yr It seems your install location of all 3 apps is in RAM and doesn't persist after reboot. Are you using influencers plugins? If so it will tell you that the install location won't exist after reboot and the install DIR should be like /mnt/disk1/apps/sickbeard (if you don't have a cache drive). If you are not using influencers plugins I suggest you do use them. Unless i don't understand what you mean by "from source" all these apps have the ability to check for updates. HTH Will
May 25, 201412 yr Author I'm not a programmer, so my reference [to running-from-source] may be incorrect. If so, my bad. My installs do persist after reboot. Yes, I am using the Influencer plugins. During the initial install, the plugin made it a point to tell me whether my data would persist after reboot. Still, upon reboot, my server does go out and download the latest copy of each... CouchPotato: installdir: /mnt/cache/appdata/couchpotato_v2
May 26, 201412 yr Might be an openSSL issue, I've had it a few times with different plugins wanting different versions and stalling. Otherwise the plugins have timeouts built into them from memory i had booted many times without a net connection without issue. Your logs would clearly show the issue. http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21260.msg283413;topicseen#msg283413
