v6 includes Perl and CPAN. However out of the box CPAN does not work and needs two things:

 

#1 "make" installed

#2 The inclusion of some basic config information in ~/ i.e. chosen mirror

 

Originally I was just using or making txz packages but eventfully this becomes a chore and breaks with the elegance and simplicity of Perl modules.

 

So we need to decide a way for developers to make use of CPAN for users so that we all dont choose a different way and require downloading a tonne of stuff on every boot.
