June 1, 201412 yr When I attempt to upgrade my unRAID from rc11 to 5.0.5 by copying the bzroot, bzimage and syslinux.cfg to the root of the USB drive, I keep getting an error message after reboot about not being able to find syslinux\menu.c32 file. I made a backup of the USB before rebooting and can copy it back to USB and everything comes up fine. The file structure appears the same on both NEW and OLD and I don't see the syslinux folder. I do see the menu.c32 on the root of the drive. I have rerun the make_bootable.cmd after upgrade with now luck. Any ideas?
June 1, 201412 yr The hint is in the unable to find syslinux\menu.c32 and that you don't see that folder. If you have a spare usb stick make an unraid stick from scratch and you will see what files go in syslinux. Sorry I'm not at home to tell you.
June 1, 201412 yr Author Now I'm having issues. My USB drive may be flaking out. Got a new one to work but it only sees three of my drives. Think it's because of the licensing. If I reformat the old drive and copy the old files back onto it, will it restore all my settings? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
June 2, 201412 yr Yeah the license is tied to the usb. As long as your backup is good. I usually make a couple backups.
June 6, 201412 yr Author I was able to get back to original state and now am trying again with similar results. Took array offline and powered down. Copied the syslinux folder and copied the two biz files. Renamed the files at the root of the drive that also exist in the syslinux folder. When I turn it on it hangs at a syslinux screen with a flashing cursor. Help.
June 6, 201412 yr I upgraded from 12a and had similar issues. Eventually I just replaced them, included the folder and reran the makeboot file.
June 6, 201412 yr These are the files I have in the syslinux folder. mboot.c32 mbr.bin menu.c32 syslinux syslinux.cfg syslinux.exe
June 7, 201412 yr Author I ended up solving the problem by deleting everything on my flash drive but the config folder and then copying the 5.0.5 files/folders over, running make bootable and then reboot. Lost my plugins but kept my settings and shares. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
