I could not find anything favorable to say for this card.  Support for it looks unlikely, and all Newegg Linux reviews were completely negative.

 

The Promise TX2 is the best supported, costs more, but perhaps find it on eBay?

    Yeah, shortly after posting I got the same feeling.  For another $20 the Promise sounds like a much better choice (or as you say, trying to find one on ebay for a deal).
