June 11, 201412 yr I'm planning on trying out Unraid on an old back up computer to see how I like it. The MB is a ECS l4s5a/dx+ (v3.2a). This does not have USB booting. Is there a recommended alternative to using a USB drive? I have an old 30 gig HD. Can I just put the files on there an let her rip? Thanks, Jim
June 11, 201412 yr You can usually configure in the BIOS to have the USB look like a floppy (Forced FDD) and then be able to select it as the removable boot device. You need to insert the unRaid flash in the USB slot, enter BIOS and change the USB configuration for that flash drive, reboot, go into the bios again, and you should see that USB drive as a removable boot device.

June 12, 201412 yr You do not need to boot from USB, but a USB device is required for the serial number process. So, you can boot from HD, CD, etc, but the USB labeled UNRAID will be checked.
