Parity fails with SAS card installed

So i have 2 AOC-SASLP-MV8 cards.

 

With just hard disks connected to the mobo sata ports everything is great, soon as i install the 2 sas cards (even with no drives attached) and attempt to run a parity check the time to complete will slowly increase until about 2 hours in the whole server will just freeze up.  Is there something i need to do with the configuration on the sas cards or in the bios to stop this from happeneing?

    have you tried the cards one by one? maybe one of them is bad and causing issues.
