What happens if the USB stick is removed while unRAID is running?

I'm curious as to whether or not unRAID actually requires the USB stick beyond booting up.

    It is not recommended to remove the usb stick from the system while /boot is mounted.

    You can possibly corrupt the stick.

     

    The superblock will NOT be updated when you stop the array, thus causing the array to come up dirty and triggering a parity check.
