Shares Allocation

Featured Replies

cautiously concerned...  running 4.4 basic w 3-1TB drives, setup a couple of shares, left Allocation to High-Water, did not enter anything in Split, Included or Excluded.  started loading up a share and unRAID used Disk1.  when I got to the 50% mark, I thought I would see a shift automatically to Disk2, no dice.  I continued to load the share and unRAID continues to use Disk1.  I'm now at 90%.  I tried creating a couple of new shares and started to load.  the new shares did use Disk2.

am I missing a setting?  should I continue to load the 1st share?  is this a limit of Basic?

thanks...

anyone?  am I the only newbie to run into this???

Did you create the share directories on all of the disks?  I don't use user shares myself, but seem to remember someone else having a problem and creating the directories solved it.

thanks bjp, I changed the Movies Split Level to 3 and entered disk1,disk2 in the Included box and it seems to be working.  I copied 2 files into Movies and they wrote to disk2!

I'm still a little unclear of the methodology, will re-read the manual and the FAQ (examples).  I guess I thought this applied to releases prior to 4.4...

thanks again...

It could be the split level. If you put in level 1 and then create sub directories in the share it will not spit to the new drive when you copy to these sub directories. Level 1 means only the "Movies" share can split but no sub directories in the "Movies" share can split.

FYI, the "Movies" share is a directory created in one, some or all of the disks in the array. It is the top directory which is level 1 for split level setting.
