June 20, 201412 yr There's been a discussion of these drives here: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=21254.0 I have two of them and they both seem to be doing fine so far. Had them running in my server for 9 or so months. Lots of people have complained about them just up and dying though out of nowhere. With the 1 year warranty on them it's a gamble.

The only Seagate drive I'd buy today is one of the NAS drives. Anything else has a shorter warranty and seems to have a higher failure rate.
June 21, 201412 yr I have had three of these in my server for about 18 months. One's parity, one's a data disk, and one's a warm spare. The two that see regular use have more reallocated sectors than the rest of my 23TB array combined (which includes one drive that served as the parity disk for over 2 years before the Seagate replaced it). The data disk has thrown at least one ATA error recently. On the plus side, they're still under warranty... but Seagate doesn't do advance replacements, which is a bummer. If the deal was too good to pass up I could see someone trying these out, but I won't be buying any more of them.
