how to access a docker?

Featured Replies

ok guys i made a few dockers and they are all running fine so far

but i have a problem with upgrading them ....

so i wouldlike to access them while they are running and do a quick git pull

sickrage for example upgrdes for the moment several times a day....

if every time i need to stop the docker / remove the doecker / remove the image and build again then i have nothing else to do with my life  ::)

there has to be a way to ssh in these dockers ?

simply installing openssh server does not work i guess... because when you do a sickrage stop then your docker stops ?

I spent an hour or two googling this the other night. During Docker's development there have been various methods/hacks to access a running container but as I understand it they no longer work. I did find a method which required modifying the docker file but I can't find the post right now....something along the lines of enabling a lxc switch (iirc).

Given Docker is still missing a few usability and security features I'd be more inclined to explore KVM VMs until Docker is ready....

The whole point of Docker is to not access them either via console or SSH. Plus any changes you make in the containers will be overridden the next time you execute the docker run command. As all the real juice is in the image.
