Memory usage 98% CPU Usage 1% (Solved)

Featured Replies

So I just logged onto my Dynamix WebGui and notice that its displaying Memory usage 98% CPU Usage 1%. All my Discs are spun down and nothing is accessing the unRAID server. Does anyone have any ideas why I would be using 98% of my 16GB of RAM.

I thought I had solved this question but my Memory usage was 98% and my CPU Utilisation 1%. It has been like this for a few days. Today I had to stop the array to backup some config files and on restarting the array I noticed the Memory usage was 4% and my CPU Utilisation 1%. I have streamed a few movies from the drives today and even now after stopping and restarting the array about 12 hours ago these are they same. The CPU usage went up to about 8% when streaming a blu-ray films but thats all so I really don't understand why it was showing such a high memory usage although the link BRIT showed me said this was normal. My WebGui is Dynamix.

Unused memory is wasted memory. Over time linux caches more and more stuff to memory that makes things faster, but as soon as the server would need the ram it would free it.

Look at top or htop and look at active vs cached memory
