Dedicate NIC to UnRAID, 2nd NIC to VMs?

Featured Replies

Guys,

I'm thinking of changing my UnRAID setup from UnRAID being a DomU with PCI-Passthrough of a USB controller, a NIC and the SATA Controllers which works perfectly.

But I now want the server to go to sleep as I've stopped mining, sleeping the Ubuntu Dom0 causes UnRAID DomU to fall over.

Now I want UnRAID to become Dom0, but I want to dedicate a NIC to UnRAID and then use the second NIC for all VM activities.

Is this possible?

Cheers.

I think as long as it's a PCI card NIC, it should be totally possible in Xen or KVM, but not sure about docker....

The motherboard has two NICs, I can PCI passthrough them no problem.

I'll probably have Ubuntu as my DomU to run apps on.
