6b6 - Need HUGE tunables to get decent parity check speeds?

Featured Replies

I've just added a 8th disk to my array and a AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 to my server.

Removed parity, copied data from disk to disk, created parity again at full speed (125MB/sec - slowest disk max speed).

Now I had tunables at 12800, 7680 and 2880, which previously allowed me to hit the full 125MB/sec and do parity checks in 4 and abit hours, after the changes = 60MB/sec.

Now I needed to double them again to get back up to full speed.

27000, 14000, 12500, using the best part of 1GB RAM.

Any thoughts on why I suddenly such large values to maximise the performance of the array!?

Do a more controlled test by seeing what tunables you need on a previous version to maintain full speed. It seems like you updated 2 items at the same time, so in order to rule out adding a new drive to be the cause of your slowdown revert to your previous version and run your speed tests.

Solved the problem - needed to peg UnRAID to 2 cores in syslinux config, now back at 125MB/sec.
