Esxi 5.5 unraid 5.05 CPU temp passtrough

Featured Replies

Hi does anybody know how to passthrough the CPU temp to an Unraid VM..

I;m using Dynamix webgui with the CPU temp monitor.. but of course Unraid  can't see the CPU temp. since I am running it as a VM.

dynamix.plugin.control

Intel  Xeon E3-1240

Supermicro X9SCM-F-O LGA1155

Unraid 5.05

Esxi 5.5

its this possible?

thanks

I was just having a private conversation with AndroidCat about this.  He proved it possible awhile back but it never got put into production.  Here is a piece of the convo between us.

All the info is thanks to AndroidCat.

Yeah, it was some time ago... more a proof of concept thing.

what I did then was to create a new VM, install Slackware 13.1 there and compile freeipmi package on it.

I googled source code location and it compiled without a hiccup.

Then ipmi-sensors command works right away and reads all data from IPMI.

I never moved the files to unRaid, was just happy to make it work from other VM. There was no interest to incorporate it into a GUI and I'm no Linux developer to do so.

Hope that helps, you need to do some research, get the files and compile them. unRAID itself lacks a compiler and probably lots of libs required for compilation. But most probably when you get all the libs and executables ready you could just copy them to unRaid.

I've reached out to a few linux developers I know to try and help but nothing yet =\

I have almost the same setup as you.

Well, at the time tried to talk to Dynamix developer but he was not interested. :(
