Added a second drive, best way to move media to it

Featured Replies

Good morning,

I just added a second drive to my array and would like to move all my movies to this drive.  Right now I have a 3tb drive with nearly equal parts Movie and TV shows.  I would like to move Movies to the new drive added and keep them separate.  What is the best way to move them, and keep the 2 separate.

My Folder structure looks like this

-disc1

    -Pics

    -Videos

      -Movie

      -TV Shows

Thanks for the help and suggestions :)

You can use Midnight Commander:

This will allow you to move content between drives.

If you want to keep these separated you will need to create a share for TV and one for Movies and "include" the disk you want to use.

As a FYI I would suggest you use "TV" instead of "TV Shows". I don't know what clients you are using for playback, but the space in the share name can be a bit of a pain in the ass at times.

Thanks for the link, I will look into it.

As far as TV vs TV Shows, I'm using XBMC and have not had an issue with it.  I do appreciate that, I never thought about issues with spaces and clients.

I am using XBMC as well, but some of the Linux/Android clients had a few issues with it.
