What exactly is the forum policy as to when and why public posts are deleted?

    General noise, OT and other deletion candidates get moved to bilge.

     

    Offensive, trolling, flam wars and personal attacks etc get completely deleted at the discretion of staffers.

     

    On top of this there are occasionally some thread specific stuff. e.g. deal with specific trolling cases where people try to win by saying their view over and over and over. e.g. in the roadmap thread etc

     

    And sometimes its just a simple mistake

    In addition to what NAS noted, posts that are clearly off-topic may be moved to another thread (as I suspect happened in this case).
