July 14, 201411 yr Author It's the Seagate DM inside and not an easy case to open as re-usable. I came across this link with pics showing how to open the case. http://www.perplexer.info/samsung_d3/samsung_d3.html It's for the 3tb version but I think should work with this one as well. Think I'll go ahead and buy one, see what happens.
July 14, 201411 yr The case is the same, the two screws under pads are tough to make look "untampered".
July 14, 201411 yr It's the Seagate DM inside and not an easy case to open as re-usable. Which model exactly? I don't really care for Seagate and don't really want an external but I might not be able to pass on that price point. Edit: nevermind. ST4000DM000
July 14, 201411 yr looks like this drive+enclosure actually has a longer warranty than the bare drive inside it. 2 years vs 3.
July 14, 201411 yr Author The case is the same, the two screws under pads are tough to make look "untampered". I've removed rubber pads before, a trick I find that works well is to use a hair dryer to warm it up and then it uses lifts very easily. Works with labels/stickers as well usually. A hot air gun works too but need to be careful with those.
