Boot off of PCI USB board

Featured Replies

Is anyone booting off of a USB PCI card, especially someone using a Gigbyte EP-35SD Motherboard? It's looking like my USB controller (I presume) has gone toes up on my server.  I'm about to switch from this old server to a new one, so I'd rather not buy a whole new motherboard just to get the data off my old system.  I tried an old (ooooold) USB+FW card I had lying around but it didn't boot.

Anyone know of a board that seems to "play nice" with USB booting?

Do you mean you are going to have a new unRAID server? If so, why not just move the disks from the old server to the new one?
