July 20, 201411 yr Heya guys how do i go about moving to unraid version 6? Do i just format my usb key unzip 6 + key and follow through with a fresh 6 install and then just mount my existing disk from unraid 5 in correct order? I know users shares ect will be lost doing it this way but will all my data be on the disk and still safe? Like the filesystem hasn't changed and will be fine working with version 6?

Yes, your data is safe. For upgrading you can do what you suggest, however in the config folder, if you copy out share.cfg network.cfg and ident.cfg then you will keep the same hostname, ip address, and shares from version 5. You will also want to grab your license key from this folder if you have one. As always, take a screenshot of your version 5 GUI, and do a backup somewhere safe. Then reformat, run makebootable. Then you can copy back your license file, share.cfg, network.cfg and ident.cfg. When you start up you will need to reassign your disks. As long as you get your parity and cache drive correct (which you can confirm from your version 5.0 screenshot) then the other disks can be in any order. For plugins either use PhAzE's plugins for UnRAID 6.0, or you can try your hand at Docker or VMs.
