Hang on Reboot / restart. Power cycle is fine

I've installed v6.  Updated the bios on my Asus p8-h67-i mobo.

Now I have a weird error.  If I reboot my server, it POSTs and comes up with the following line and hangs:

SYSLINUX 4.03 2010-10-22 EDD Copyright © 1994-2010 H. Peter Anvin et al

I need to turn of the server and then back on again for it to boot off the USB drive.  Has anyone seen this before ?  I think I may have changed one of the USB BIOS settings but for the life of me I don't know which one and I think I've tried every combination trying to rectify it.  I've also downgraded the BIOS back to what it was but no luck.

It's not the USB drive because I've tried another one with the same results.

Any ideas ?

Have you tried resetting the bios to factory defaults and then going from there?

I seem to recall that starting with version 6, all of the syslinux stuff was put into a separate directory/folder.  I suspect you have a mixture of the old way and the new way of booting on your flash drive.  Be sure that you copied the folder over to your flash drive.  It may help to run the make_bootable batch file again.

Yeah, tried the restore to default.  No change.  Double checked the location of the boot files and they are fine.

Might, when I have time, roll back to v5 and see if that changes anything, but I can't imagine why

Hi;

I've done some extensive experiments on my setup with this problem and reported the outcome as a bug on this thread:

http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=33802.msg322296#msg322296

In essence, a clean install of 6b6 won't reboot from powerdown script or the 'reboot' command, while a clean install of 5.05 or 6b5 restarts just fine.

If you have a similar problem, I'd appreciate your making a comment in the Bug (6b6 announcement) thread so that my comment is not thought to be just a fluke.

I note that your MB is different from mine (I'm on ASRock) so it may be a generic issue.

Thanks,

Dennis
