July 25, 201411 yr For many years I've manually sorted my video library and used VLC to play my files. Of course it plays most video formats and has a big advantage with my TV/monitor in that it can adjust the aspect ratio to fit my odd monitor size. I've tried XBMC and Plex and these are fantastic at organizing the metadata of the vids, i.e. the synopsis and cast. But when it comes to playing the videos they offer a very inferior experience to VLC. What would be ideal is to have Plex manage my library, but when I double click the film title it loads the vid into VLC. Does anyone know of a solution for an app that manages film metadata and then passes the file on to the player of your preference? Alternatively, is there a library manager that offers flexibility in aspect ratio playback? Plex, I know, sucks at that. Thanks D
