July 25, 201411 yr unRAID Server Pro, Version 5.0.4. 7 hard drives plus one cache. Every 20-30 days my unraid "crashes" and takes the entire network down with it. My original way around this was to set a 22 day reminder to myself to restart the machine at least once. My 22 day reminder was two days ago and restarted the server. This morning it crashed once again. The only way to "fix" it is to hard reset the machine. Initial Googling results in people talking about RAM and possibly sector issues on the primary OS drive. I have replaced the RAM twice, first time with old RAM I had laying around, the second time was with brand new. I've checked the flash drive twice now with no issues. I've also taken a video of what my switch network activity looks like when it's crashing. The activity lights flash so fast on the other devices that it looks like they are solid green, they are not solid. They are indeed flashing so fast the camera doesn't pick it up. As you can also see, as soon as I disconnect the unraid ethernet cable, instantly everything calms down and starts working again. I am going to list what packages I have auto-installing from unmenu below, I also have the following command that starts up cache_dirs /boot/scripts/cache_dirs -d 6 -m 3 -M 10 -w Auto-installed packages using unmenu: bwm-ng "C" compiler & development tools (gcc) htop lsof mail and ssmtp unRAID status alert Monthly parity check openssh openssl Clean powerdown python python-cheetah screen socket cat sqlite unrar infozip I'm a bit stuck, it takes an entire month to see if anything works.
July 26, 201411 yr Author Didn't have enough time this morning to do that, I'll report back next month when it occurs again.
