My cache drive all is showing up as unformatted after a reboot. The server was acting strange before I rebooted and that is when the cache drive showed up as unformatted. Maybe it has something to do with the monthly parity check? I have attached a syslog (it's an angry one...) I would hate to format the drive without getting all the information off of it first. Hopefully I wont have to do that. Any advice would be appreciated!

Normally we would say that unformatted means the file system could not be mounted and you should check cables, etc. Maybe that still applies even with this btrfs file system?

You wouldn't think that the btrfs file system is corrupt?

If this was a reiserfs formatted disk then the normal recovery would be to run the reiserfsck tool to fix any file system corruption.  I do not know if there is an equivalent for the btrfs system, but I would expect that there would be.

Well I said screw it and blew up the cache drive! I formatted it back to reiserfs and started getting my plugins back to working order. Still a few more tweaks but my plugins are just about fully operational again.

So a few theories on why my cache drive went crazy:

 

1. btrfs has issues with the mover script and running parity check at the same time

2. I am running unRAID as DomU on a Mint Linux Dom0 and something went wrong

3. btrfs doesn't like plugins

4. I have everything backed up besides my cache drive so my server decided it was going to teach me a lesson (I personally like this option the best)
