limetech Posted August 1, 2014 Share Posted August 1, 2014 Permit formatting array devices with these file systems: - Reiserfs (default) - btrfs (as single device only) - xfs - NTFS - HFS+ - ext2/3/4 Also, recognize any MBR/GPT layout. This will let you form an array using devices from say, a windows PC, and retain the data. If one such device fails, parity-reconstruct will be able to completely re-create the content of the device. There are some implications as well: - Only one partition will be "mounted", but user will be able to specify which one. - All top-level directories will still be treated as 'shares' automatically. This might require the user to rename and/or move top-level directories. Quote Link to comment

Do you think it's possible or worthwhile to use a hidden .exclude file (or some other flag file) in the root directory to signal shfs NOT to treat top level directories as 'shares' automatically? I believe that this is still a Roadmap item, but it is no longer tied to being 6.1 or 6.2.
