August 2, 201411 yr A few days ago I finally figured out how to install Plex on my unRaid server and removed it from my HTPC. I just had to purchase a few more hard drives for expansion, I"m currently pre-clearing the drives using "screen". However, while during this process Plex seems to be totally unusable and when you attempt to connect it says "Plex Media Server is not responding". Is this normal or is something wrong??
August 3, 201411 yr Depending on the version of unRAID and how much memory you have preclear may be taking up enough memory to cause plex to be killed so its memory can be used for your preclears.

I use unRaid Version 5.0.3 My unRaid server uses 16GB DDR3 1333MHz of RAM. Could these be those problems then?
August 3, 201411 yr Author See here Hmmm......My problem seems to be different then yours was from sometime ago. The disk I'm clearing is a 6TB HDD and speed is not an issue. I'm currently zeroing @49% 13:09:14. So the system is not slow and i'm also currently not having any issues accessing the system from my other computers and transferring data write or read from my HDD's currently in the array. The only plugin I have installed is Plex as to be honest I really don't understand alot of this so I try and keep it as simple as I can understand. However the Plex app is not working at all, It's unreachable by every HTPC I have and I'm also unable to access the settings threw Plex webgui. However, If I go into the unRaid webgui "unRaid Main", then "Settings" then the PMS Plugin icon to reach the settings it says Plex is Running? I'm not sure why everything else would be running just fine and quick but the app is not. The only changes I have made to this system in a while was today and I added a SUPERMICRO AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 which was detected and is working on clear my new 6TB HDD. If anyone has another suggestion, This noob is all ears.
August 3, 201411 yr When Linux needs memory it decides what to kill based on what isn't currently being used, so the process that gets killed could be different. I don't know how the plugin decides if it is running. Could be some of it is and some of it isn't. you might try stopping plex from the plugin page and restarting it.
August 3, 201411 yr Author Stopping and re-starting didn't help. I guess I"ll wait for this pre-clear cycles to finish just to make sure it's working correctly afterwards. It worked fine for the few times I used it since moving PMS to the unRaid box this past week.
