Split Level of 1 Doesn't Seem to Work Across Disks with User Share

Featured Replies

I am running Unraid Server 4.4.2, and have several user shares, my Movie share is set for high-water and has a split level of 1 and over the past two months of adding content directly to the user share, Unraid has leveraged the first 3 disks in my array.  Each movie has it's own sub-directory off the root, for example:

\\tower\Movies\The Mission (1986)\

\\tower\Movies\Transformers (2007)\

\\tower\Movies\Donnie Brasco (1997)\

etc.

I noticed that though I thought that the contents of each of these movie directories should have stayed together on a single disk, they did not in fact do that.  I find that I have...

\\tower\disk1\Movies\The Mission (1986)\The Mission (1986).mp4

\\tower\disk1\Movies\The Mission (1986)\The Mission (1986).nfo

\\tower\disk3\Movies\The Mission (1986)\The Mission (1986).tbn

Notice the first two files are on disk 1 and the last is on disk 3...  Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong (if anything)?  Is there an easy way to consolidate the directories short of manual effort?

Thanks.

disk1 51% (has most of the movie content)

disk2 69% (has about 20% of the movie content, and lots of other stuff music, tv shows in other shares)

disk3 21% (this is the disk that got most of the small overflow files, for example it had all the movie thumbnail files for movies found on disk1 and disk2, it only has about 5% of movie content)

Last night I opened up a few Windows Explorer windows and combined directories across disks manually and found that most of the overflow was onto disk3, but there were 4 of 5 instances where the movie content was on disk3 and things like the NFO and TBN (thumbnail file) were on disk1 or disk2...

Did you ever have version 4.4 running, and is it possible that this scattering of files occurred in a release previous to 4.4.2?  That is, since you have been running 4.4.2, can you absolutely confirm you see this problem? (There was a bug introduced in 4.4 which would explain this, but was fixed in 4.4.1.)

Don't think I ever had 4.4, I purchased a pre-configured server from Lime-Technology and it came with 4.4.2.  Let me keep working with the system and I'll let you know if the problem shows up again, who knows, maybe I did something weird.
