Problem on deleting user share

Featured Replies

From UnRAID Manual. The instruction for deleting a user share is given as:

"To delete a User Share, just clear the Share name field and click Apply. Only entirely empty User Shares may be deleted."

I did clear the name field and pressed the apply button.  Then the erased name reappeared on the name field.

And the user share name is still showing up on share setting.

There is no file inside the user share.  I also made sure that both smb and afp export to none when I cleared the name field.

What am I missing here?

If your flash is corrupt any changes you make will not stick because they cannot be written.

I checked the flash and it is not corrupt.  Yet the erased name reappears.

Check each of your disks (disk1, disk2, disk3, ...) and be sure there isn't a top-level folder with the share name.    i.e. if the share was called "OldMovies", and you still have an "OldMovies" folder on any disk (even if it's empty), then it's not completely gone.

You mean I have to manually delete "oldMovies" for all disks (disk1, disk2, ... etc) before pressing the apply button for the cleared name field?

Yes.  Note that "... Only entirely empty User Shares may be deleted."    If there are still top-level folders, the share isn't "empty".  (Even if there is no data)

Finally I was able to delete user share.  Thanks.

It would be nice to have the share setting to do all the work for removing a user share including removing content files and folder.
