Change mover schedule and Automate Shutdown

Featured Replies

Hi, I have two problems I need assistance with:

1. I'm trying to edit when the mover processes every morning, but I can not find the file to edit. I see, from searching, it's in the crontab format, and I've found the mover script, but the schedule is not in the script.

Which file holds the schedule, and what's the easiest way to edit it. I'm not very experienced with linux, so please make it easy.

2. Is there a way to have unraid automatically stop the array, and power itself down?

Ultimately, I'd like the mover to move whatever files need to be moved to the parity protected drives, then unraid to stop the array, and power off. This could save electricity all night, and day, while I'm at work, and don't need access to the files or the array.

1.  Mover Schedule in on the main web page Shares tab, in a section called cache.

2.  If you do a search or look in the wiki for Joe's powerdown script, you will hopfully find what you need.  I use it to automatically powerdown @ 11pm every night for example.

I had looked all through the server's web pages, and honestly hadn't found the mover schedule. Once I'm home, after the weekend is over, I'll check out the Shares tab.

Thank you for the tip on Joe's powerdown script. I'll search for it, and my problems should be resolved.

Any chance you would have a little time to detail what you did, with your own example?  This could be useful to others, would be nice in the Wiki.

Sure, although everything I type here I learned through these forums  ;)

Firstly you need the powerdown script.  I've attached it to this post, but its also documented in the wiki.  In my case I put this file on the flash drive in a folder called custom\bin.

Next I added this line to the go script (\config folder on the flash), which uses the at scheduler to run the powerdown script at 23:00:

echo "powerdown" | at 23:00

I'm sure there is a step missing here to make the powerdown script executable?  I can't seem to find a reference to what I did though....

Thank you dvd.collector. Powerdown solves my automated shut down dilemma. The new FAQ should make it easier for other NOOBs to automate their shut downs as well.
