August 16, 201411 yr Okay, this is my first post and I must say that I love unRAID! I have purchased the pro license, but other than that, I have so far managed to re-purpose an old tower, and crack open several of my external drives to make my unRAID server run like a champ. My goal in the next year is to get all new hardware (case, mobo, and processor) because I run Plex through my home and the processor I am using in the old tower I am utilizing is a single core P4 processor. Not good for transcoding, so I have not loaded any apps to my UNraid server yet. I have signed up for Usenet with Supernews and I am starting to mess with that on another PC in the house (it is not running on the server yet) but I have a few questions about it. As I am new to it, and the only assitance I can really seem to find is a 4 years old lifehacker article, I could use some help asking about with search engine people are using to find the content. I have downloaded and installed SABnzbd as well and I just still am having a little trouble. I have found a few things on Binsearch as well as NZBsearch, but I am wondering if there are any better options out there that I am missing. Also I have another worry. I have found some content, but on a few things I watch the "download" size shoot up from 0MB to like 300MB or more in just a few seconds. I know that my internet is not that fast, so is this an indication of a failed download from the get-go? I am currently on my trial period from Supernews and therefor under a 10GB limit for the first 3 days to try out this service, so I have paused SABnzbd downloads at this time. Any help from the collective would be great, and I am happy I found unRAID!!! Thank you in advance for all the help you all will undoubtedly give to me. It is appreciated! Brandon
August 16, 201411 yr Welcome to the unraid forum! While you question isnt really related to unraid (thats why i can answer on it ) ill try to give you a start. In the nzb world there are a few backbone providers. http://www.usenet-providers.net/newsgroup-resellers.php Get one main provider (i use astraweb) but use whatever floats your boat, try to get 2-3 blocks accounts from a provider that using a different backbone then the others. Let one of the blockproviders be a Non us one (they are slower to take down content/recieves less requests) The reason people do this is to make sure that the content can be download even if its damaged/missing pars/been taken down on there main provider. Next step is to get some indexers. I only use, sickbeard index and dognzb and that has been working fine. If your looking for more you can google it or check https://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewforum.php?f=1. There are some advertises for indexing sites there.
