Better write performances

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I've done few modification to my Unraid computer and how im capping my Gigabit Network card when i read/transfert data from it (100-113MB/s). But for the write speed im usually more between 35-40MB/s with few cap at 60MB/s. Is there any way to increase write speed? im already using an SSD as cache drive, 6x1TB 7200rpm for data and the same for the parity drive, all plugged on a AOC-SAS2LP-MV8.

Regards

Have you tried plugging the ssd into the sata 3 port on you MB?

Two things to check ...

Are all of your writes to cache-enabled shares?

And what is the SOURCE of the data for the writes?  (i.e. are you sure the data source can provide data at speeds above the 60MB/s you're seeing as a max?)

Just realized that cache isnt enabled by default on shares after adding a cache drive, im currently doing a parity check so i can't test it right now but i guess that will fix my problem

I feel news, with cache enabled i get à 80-90MB/s, its way better.

Thanks for the hint GaryCase :)

Yes, actually USING the cache does tend to make a difference  8)
