March 5, 200917 yr I've had no problems with 4.3.3. Should I just stay where I'm at, or go to 4.4.2? I don't use user shares by the way.
March 6, 200917 yr Did you check the update notes? Read them and decide yourself. Tom will disagree that 4.3.3 was buggy, but the fact is that each new releases have a mean of 90% fixes, 10% additional functionality (and maybe I am modest). It is very easy to update and then very easy to downgrade if for some (weird) reason 4.4.2 doesn't suit you, so why don't you just try.
March 6, 200917 yr I generally agree that it is good to stay at or near the newest unRaid release. But I have some issues with 4.4.2 that has me running 4.3.3 right now. There is a low risk that upgrading will cause you any kind of severe problems but as in all things there is some risk.
March 6, 200917 yr He's right, it is very simple to upgrade and downgrade, to test a version, with no known backward or forward compatibility issues, and no known data integrity risks. Just replace the bzroot and bzimage files in the root of the flash drive, and reboot. V4.4.2 does add a newer version of memtest, so copy that too, and you can keep it if you decide to downgrade. In general, and as far as I can think, you should know almost immediately if there are any issues. It either won't boot, or there will be errors that show up almost immediately, such as a hardware component no longer supported correctly. And a few have found performance issues, and chosen to return to v4.3.3.
