August 22, 201411 yr I wrote this up when responding to another post, but thought I'd link it here. Users that run out of space and have no more slots may find this an option worth considering. Tethered DIY Addon Enclosure
August 22, 201411 yr Bit of a kludge ... but clearly it works ... Cosmetically, I'd think it's look a bit better to buy a CDROM duplicator case and put the add-on 4-in-3's in that. That would also provide an additional small power supply for the extra drives, so you wouldn't need power cables between the two towers.

I like that it is small, nothing else to plug in, secure, easy to add and change disks. Thought other users might be interested. August 22, 201411 yr ... Obviously Daddy Warbucks will be in search of a more Cadillac solution. Sure wish I had the money you apparently think I do ... I don't think a $40-50 CDROM duplicator case is a "Cadillac" solution. In fact, for ~ $70 you can buy an 8-drive CDROM tower case with power supply. You wouldn't even need the 4-in-3's to put 8 drives in that -- so it would be CHEAPER than buying the 2 4-in-3's you suggested.
August 22, 201411 yr Author It would be more complicated to connect and you'd lose the easy disk swapping. though you were suggesting adding 4 in 3s to.a cd case. You could have grounding issues with the two power supplies. No thanks.
