[SOLVED] Parity: not checked after expanding array

Featured Replies

Hi all,

1) I recently upgrade from 4.7 to 5.05  <-- No problems

2) I precleared some 4TB drives <-- No problems

3) I replaced my parity drive with a 4TB and rebuilt parity <-- No problems

4) I then assigned my old parity drive (2TB), a new 4TB, and my old spare 2TB drive to the array.  <-- problem as follows:

After the drives were formatted and added to the array, the unRAID Main tab reports "Started. Parity is valid. Parity has not been checked yet". All drive balls are green.  The Array Status from unmenu reports "STARTED, 15 disks in array.    Parity is Valid:.  Last parity check  16308  days ago with no sync errors."  Keeping in mind that step 3 above completed yesterday and everything was valid and good in the world.

Questions: What is the best thing to do right now? Is this expected behavior (parity not being checked yet after adding new drives)? How concerned should I be that unmenu thinks parity is valid and last checked at the start of UTC?

Thanks for any help.

The webGUI is correct. Parity is in sync but has never been checked. I suggest checking parity now.

Thanks for the reply.  Has it been so long since I expanded my array that I've forgotten this is the expected behavior?

yes, it is.  You've written parity yesterday, but never read it (checked it) to verify it was written properly.

Thanks.. I'll consider it brain lapse on my part.
