August 28, 201411 yr Depends on what you want to do. A good rule to follow is probably the fewer the better, or at least no more than you need. Another good rule is only change one thing at a time. Some people just start adding everything they can find until they wind up breaking something, so take it slow and ask questions. unMenu adds some additional functionality and information, and is generally regarded as one of the safest addons. It also works on all of the unRAID versions from the last few years. The preclear script is another addition that everyone should use. Probably some of the most common addons allow us to have our unRAID servers doing NZB and torrent downloads, and serving media files to other devices. The unRAID version 6 betas have introduced some exciting possibilities for getting more functionality out of your server, but they are still somewhat experimental at this stage. What did you have in mind for your server?
August 28, 201411 yr What add-ons would you recommend getting? How big is your house? Seriously, that question has no answer. You need to say what you intend to accomplish. People use unraid for many different things, so add ons that are good for one person have no use to another.
August 28, 201411 yr Excuse me for lack of understanding, but isn't it possible to answer the question, how big your house is, very precisely?! I know it's a saying, but I don't get it... :-)

I know it's a saying, but I don't get it... :-) Sorry, I was being a smart-alec. The original question was what add ons, so I was asking how much space he had for the add ons. No mention was made in the original post of the purpose of the add ons. Perhaps he wanted to know if a new game room would be the best option? Maybe a sauna?
August 28, 201411 yr Author lol. As a noob to unraid, I'm not surprised by my quality of questions. I'm looking to make a general file server for streaming to multiple media computers. I figure I'd like to potentially watch a different file on 2-3 machines while uploading more data from a fourth. I guess I'm just not sure what unraid can actually do yet. I'm working on ordering cages and drives so I can actually start playing with it.

You might want to also install CP, SAB, and SB. If you plan on streaming to mobile devices also, then get Plex also.
September 12, 201411 yr Author CP = Couch Potato SB = Sick Beard What are the others? I've never used CP and SB before.
