Slow internal write speeds on unRAID only

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm evaluating unRAID 5.0.5 on HP N54L. So far there is only one fresh 3TB WD Red installed (so no parity protection enabled yet), but it reaches quite slow write speed - about 25 MBps when array is started, slightly over 30 MBps if the disk is only mounted. All this measured with "dd" command. Hdparm measures the read speed well above 100 MBps. The most interesting point is that switching e.g. to Fedora Live instantly gives about 100 MBps write speed on the same hardware setup and the same BIOS settings ("Cache Write" is disabled), so I'd say that the problem is rather software-related.

I've searched the forum, but couldn't find similar description - all reported cases are about either extremely slow speeds or using the parity protection.

Do you have any clues, or maybe someone had similar problem?

Thanks in advance.
