docker snapshot becomes read only

Featured Replies

unRAID OS Version: v6b8

Description: MaridDB docker btrfs becomes read only.

How to reproduce: Other than it just keep happening I cant reproduce on demand.

Expected results: Stay read/write

Actual results: MariaDB starts failing and when you stop the docker you get comp, aints about RO FS. You get the same error if you try to remove or start it. If you stop docker and start it again everything is back to normal.

Other information: I have no clue how to debug this more

Managed to grab the following:

root@localhost:# /usr/bin/docker rm -f MariaDB

Error response from daemon: Cannot destroy container MariaDB: Driver btrfs failed to remove root filesystem ac5e98ee99e32c12ae3133b5eb3b098e23937e07aa78d520daa72ef8a4e262d0: Failed to destroy btrfs snapshot: read-only file system

The command failed.

NAS, anything in the /var/log/syslog?

Hmmmm, similar thing has happened with my Crashplan docker install.  Stopped and attempted to restart and this is the error I receive...

Error response from daemon: Cannot start container crashplan: open /var/lib/docker/containers/e38943aa154c07edc9f2ff7edf1af1352d56eccadd625da88cc2eed81e8627cc/hostname: read-only file system

My problems appeared to be deeper than docker.  I attempted to shut down my server and it failed as my disks could not be unmounted as they were all "not found".  Which is odd because I could ssh into the server and see the disks mounted.  All of my disks are btrfs which is the only common thread between my docker and shutdown issues.  Performed an unclean shutdown, rebooted and everything appears to be working.

I'm not quite sure what the problem is here.  It could be an issue with the Container, with Docker, or something else.  There is just not enough information to go off of on this.  What we really need to see are log events from right before and right after this is occurring so we can see if anything's happening in the middle to this.

Second question:  has this occurred for you with other containers as well, or just MariaDB?

As for SilverRubicon, are you still having issues as well?

It has not happened since and I cannot replicate again. There was nothing of note in my syslog at the time. I am pretty sure I have seen another user report he problem elsewhere here but if it is a real bug it is very rare.

So should we close this defect report as "solved" or leave it open?
