September 9, 201411 yr So I've been following unRAID for a few years now and wanted to setup a server for some time but always held back because I wasn't sure how to include virtualization into the mix. Now that unRAID 6 is out, that problem has been solved. I have the hardware in place and would like to setup the server but I'm not sure if I should start with 5 and upgrade to 6 once it's in a stable release or just go start with 6 now. Is 6 beta stable enough to run?
September 9, 201411 yr My $0.02 as someone who started with 5.05 a couple of months ago is to minimize your plugins if you start with 5.05. I perceive it to be more work to upgrade the plugins than unRAID itself, as I do my homework in preparation for an upgrade to v6. The only things you definitely want are pre_clear and screen, though there are so many other goodies that come with unMenu that I'd consider it.
September 9, 201411 yr If you are just starting out I would recommend going straight to v6. It is getting close to Release Candidate status, and you might as well go straight to the new virtualisation features.
September 9, 201411 yr Author Thanks for the input. I was thinking it would be better to just start with 6 and upgrade to the the stable version once it's out just wanted to verify that before jumping in.
