September 17, 201411 yr I currently have a 150gb 10k rpm raptor drive that I was going to use as a cache drive. Problem is it's SATA II (3gb/s). Would a SATA3 6gb/s raptor drive be noticeably faster for write speeds?
September 17, 201411 yr No. Raptor's used to be fast but compared to ssd they are slow. Doubt you could tell the difference.
September 17, 201411 yr Author but SSD's are no faster for writing. Only reading. Raptor drive should be faster writing than SSD.
September 17, 201411 yr I don't know what SSD you are using but my SSD is faster than my 2 150GB raptors in RAID 0 reading and writing.
September 17, 201411 yr Author Thought I read somewhere that raptors are faster writing than SSD. Guess not.
