i dont even know where to start to look for issues. with this or the previously mentioned errors.

i would greatly appreciate any help. it would be grand if i can get this system working smoothly.

many thanks

Describe your system hardware and post a syslog. It will go a long way to providing more details for people.

ok. il try my best. the sys log im not too sure how to do that. but il try.

the system

intel haswell 3.3ghz processor.

Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 motherboard

2x 4gb ddr3 Crucial ram.

corsair obsidian 900D case.

the PSU however is out of an old dell desktop. its about 350w, soon to be upgraded to a 500w fanless PSU

2x Seagate st4000 hdds.

1x WD 320 Hdd

1x samsung 250gb hdd

hopefully i have done this correctly.

thank you.

Looks like you have plugin's installed? If so, have you tired booted into the "unRAID OS Safe Mode (no plugins)" mode when you boot up unRAID?

  • Author

i have not. i will try that and report back.

thanks for a quick reply

  • Author

after a restart there seems to be a lack of the mass of errors, guess thats good. but it does show one of those '[Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged' errors.

guess i need to get rid of loads of plugins and maby start new ones?

Well a good test to see if it is the plugins would be to remove all the plugins and then start unRAID normally. If you want to post a syslog after that we could take a look at it.

Which version of unRAID are you running and which plugins?

  • Author

ah ok, how would i go about getting rid of the plugns? if im honest. the only plug in i know of is plex, i know there are others. although i have no idea what they are. it was from when i had the old setup and it would not play things through plex properly. i know now that it was more to do with far inferior hardware components.

Well the plugins are usually found in the flash drive under:

\flash\config\plugins

\flash\extra

Just copy them to your windows desktop then remove them from your unRAID flash drive and reboot unRAID.

  • Author

ok il do that and add plex on and leave it at that.

what about this '[Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged' error?

is there any way i can find out what is causing this?

oh and im running unraid 5.0

thank you for your replies

i only had 2 things in those folders. plex in one and web gui latest in the other. pkg manager has had a few things on it but i dont know what was there as original and what wasnt. got rid of the web gui latest one and restarted. there has been no errors at all so far.

i was wondering if it was from lack of power? unfortunately due to the size of the cast the power supply is kind of sat on the bottom of the case. its a dell own brand and doesnt actually fit in the pre cutouts. but more to the point its only 350w. if its not getting enough power to do anything could this be causing the '[Hardware Error]: Machine check events logged' errors? they concern me quite a bit.

could it be lack of power... maybe... although you do not have much hardware installed from what you posted above. I would upgrade to the latest version of unRAID 5.0.5 just to make sure it your version of unRAID is the issue.

hi there. thank you for your reply. sorry its taken me so long to be active. i have since got a 500w fannless PSU and a 4tb hdd and they all work fine, however after upgrading from a bt home hub 3 to a home hub 5 i cannot use the /tower or /tower:8080 (server is indeed called tower but its in an obsidian 900d case so it is a tower)

im having to use my ip address to log on. and thats a pain in the arse.

ive tried going through the faqs and fix the problem but i cant seem to make any headway. im not hugely network savvi. and im struggling alot to actually understand some things.

and how would i go about updating unraid?
