September 23, 201411 yr Hello Would like to upgrade my drives (I have 2TB and 1,5TB) I've read it was not interesting to go with 3TB....better select 4TB or even better, 6TB But 6TB are expensive, so I guess 4TB is the best option for me right now What would be a good drive that sells at a reasonable price? Well actually what would be the cheapest but still good drive? Thanks
September 23, 201411 yr I only use WD red's. I'm in the process of converting all my 3TB and 4TB Reds to the 6TB ones.
September 23, 201411 yr No, that was really for the SATA II drives but I never used it. My SATA III 3, 4 and 6TB reds are pre cleared once then added into the array. Never had any issues.

Great....I saw some posts on other websites about it still being an issue. I guess it might have been a small batch that were affected.
September 23, 201411 yr Author I will probably wait Thanksgiving.....should get some good deals for Black Friday Ideally, I would need 3 disks (1 parity and 2 to replace my 1,5TB)
September 26, 201411 yr Whats the temperature like on the 6tb reds? I'm using HGST 4TB Deskstar Coolspin. They run about 8 degrees cooler than my WD Greens, but I haven't tried reds.
September 26, 201411 yr Obviously a lot of factors come into this question but they run 2c cooler than my 3tb Reds. Mine all run around 35c during use and 28c idle. Coolest drives I've ever had.
September 26, 201411 yr If you're willing to shell a few extra $$, try the WD SE (WD4000F9YZ). Silent, cool, reliable. And 5yr warranty. I love them.
September 29, 201411 yr Hey French-Guy, Let's try to find out which one will be best for you. Can you tell me please what are you going to do with them? I mean are you going to play games, some video editing, programing or it will be just storage drives? If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope this helps, Doctor_WD
