September 24, 201411 yr Hi My UnRaid server has been running several years without any problem. But today I noticed a disk was marked red with MBR: unaligned. What should I do ? Syslog attached. syslog.txt
September 24, 201411 yr A red ball next to a disk is not ok. See here: http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshooting#What_do_I_do_if_I_get_a_red_ball_next_to_a_hard_disk.3F
September 25, 201411 yr All the original post showed was the question "MBR Unaligned?" when I first read it, which does not need any steps to be taken. Now if it's a red balled drive is an entirely different matter.
September 25, 201411 yr Author Hi Been very buzy the last days....I've made the smartctl -a -A /dev/sda >/boot/smart.txt command and output is attached. I got no clue what to look after....can anyone tell if I need to replace drive ? Thx smart.txt
September 25, 201411 yr Just checked all cables and that didnt help. The red-ball will not resolve until the disk is rebuilt. Refer to the link above.
September 27, 201411 yr Author Aften parity check I get this option: Correct any Parity-Check errors by writing the Parity disk with corrected parity. Should I start this ?
September 27, 201411 yr Aften parity check I get this option: Correct any Parity-Check errors by writing the Parity disk with corrected parity. Should I start this ? This is the normal default that one runs periodically on the assumption that if there is a parity mismatch it is most likely to be on the parity drive. There is a check box to run without automatic correction. As you say you have just run a parity check I see no reason to run this.
September 27, 201411 yr Yes. Run a parity check. There should be zero errors. Do not choose to correct the errors.
