September 29, 201411 yr So I just setup my first unraid server and got to the point where I want to preclear my drives but I'm getting this error "No un-assigned disks detected" when running the command. I've been through many of the threads on this issue but haven't solved it yet. I tried shutting down the server and reseating the drives. The drives show up in the management gui. I'm sure there's something I'm missing but I'm not sure what. I followed the instructions on the configuration page. I'm not sure what else to try. Any help is appreciated.
September 29, 201411 yr Have you assigned the drives to locations within the array? If so, you would get this error. If you connect via Putty and type: dmesg|grep SATA|grep link What response do you get? This should at show you the drives available either for preclear or the array. If you see drives with the dmesg command, and you have not done any drive assignments in the GUI then I am not sure why you are getting this off the top of my head.
September 29, 201411 yr ... The drives show up in the management gui. ... This implies you've assigned them to UnRAID. The PreClear script will NOT allow you to pre-clear drives that are already assigned to the array. Do a New Config and leave the configuration blank. Then do your pre-clears. And THEN you can assign them to your array.
September 29, 201411 yr Author Ok so yea I have assigned the drives into the array. I guess stopping the array and checking no device in the slot doesn't unassign them then. When you say do a "new config" do you mean wiping my flash and re-instlling unRAID to it? Sorry if this is obvious I'm still pretty new to this.
September 29, 201411 yr Author Quick question: I'm using this command to start the preclear ./preclear_disk.sh -A -c 3 -r 65536 -w 65536 -b 2000 -m [email protected] /dev/sdx I get this message "WARNING: GPT (GUID Partition Table) detected on '/dev/sdd'! The util fdisk doesn't support GPT. Use GNU Parted." But it still gives me the option to start the preclear on that drive. Does this mean I need to change something or is it ok to go a head with the preclear?
