mutiple NFS shares

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a new hardware/software install of unRaid. Two 1tb WD Black with no parity. Parity is on order and should be here today. I'm getting comfortable with unRaid. Seeing what I can or can't do. Unraid is meant to serve media to a PCH. SMB works great. I am able to set up any combination I would need.

NFS on the other hand only allows a single share although I have set up 4. I am using the ip/sub ® convention. I've tried rebooting booth PCH and unRaid. I read someone this might help the PCH but only one NFS directory remains. Basically the first one it finds in the share list. If I remove the top one it goes to the next in line.

I can nest everything under the one folder but it would server me better if I had the flexibility of configuring multiple shares with varying degrees of security. Any suggestions?

Thanks

NFS support is still beta.  Current unRAID release is v4.5-beta2 with beta3 due out shortly with some fixes.  Tom is actively looking for this kind of feedback, so any additional detail you can provide would be helpful.

Glad to help out where I can. If there is any testing or log info I could provide please let me know.

I set up 4 shares - Health, Videos, Photos and Music

SMB for the shares is set to no export

SMB for the drives is set to export RW temporarily - Once my files are copied over this will be set to no export.

I configure NFS on all 4 shares using 192.168.0.1/24 ® - Over the weekend I will try setting it to the ip address of my PCH and remove the subnet option.

Everything else is set to no export. I'm looking to end up with a NFS only file server.

When I browse using my popcorn hour I can only see Health.

I remove the nfs export for Health and try again. Now I see only Music.

I remove the nfs export for Music, try again and now I see Photos....

Since Video is last alphabetically I have to shut off all the other nfs exports to get there.

As a work around I made a top level folder 'Media' and shared only this folder using NFS. Then I nested all my content folders under it. I will test the work around some time this weekend. I expect to map to individual nested folders within the nfs share.

I don't think it's a PCH issue but stranger things have happened. I have not test SMB shares but plan to do so over the weekend as well.

Rig - Asus P5E-VM DO, 4GB Ram, 3 GHz Conroe, two 1TB WD Caviar black 7200 rpm, unRaid basic 4.4.2 (confirmed), llink installed but not started (http streamer)

Can anyone can recommend a live cd I could use to test nfs shares on my network? I'd prefer something I won't have to configure. I'm capable but don't want to spend to much time researching since I'm a linux newb.. I do have a couple of thinkpads so driver support should not be an issue.

Setting up the Media folder worked fine.

I have noticed when sharing/removing SMB shares unRaid loses the NFS share for a bit of time. Sometime I need to stop and reboot the system, other times it comes back quick.
