Inotify - 64bit package?

Featured Replies

Hi, i am looking to find out what is accessing my disks and why.

Inotify seems to be the right tool for that task, but it looks like there is no 64bit package available.

The tutorials i have found are all revering to a 32bit package.

Any ideas? Or another way of finding out what spins up my disks at ?random?

Or can i just install the 32bit version?

There seems to be a 64-bit inotify package available at http://packages.slackware.com/, although I have not tried it for myself.  Putting this in the 'extra' folder on the flash should be enough to get it installed the next time the unRAID server is booted.

Thanks, I will try that tomorrow.

I would put them in the extra folder and then run this command from a SSH screen "cd" to the extra folder and type

installpkg inotify_WHATEEVER_PACKAGE_IS_CALLED.ext

that way you can see if it installs correctly or if it needs a dependency to run.

I went to the slackware page and downloaded the package. Before I transfered it to my server I took another look into /boot/packages and found exactly the same 64bit version as on the slackware page.

Installing the inotify 64bit package via "installpkg" worked instantly and i set up a watch on my disk4. It seems as if all its content is getting read every second or so. I guess cache_dirs could do that, or maybe plex or i dont know. I need to sleep now, maybe i have an idea tomorrow....
