Install UNRAID Basic on ASUS P5LD2-VM

Featured Replies

Just a quick question on trying to get UNRAID basic working with my current setup.

My motherboard is a P5LD2-VM

When I boot from the flash drive (Have tried both a Sandisk Cruzer Mini & a Kingston Flash Drive) my system seems to lock on the following lines

host/uhci.c: USB UHCI at I/O 0x8000, IRQ 14

usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 4

Does this mean incompatible hardware, or is there some tweaking that could be done that a linux newb like myself may be unaware of?

Do you have any other USB devices connected besides the Flash?  If so disconnect them all.

Another thing to try is to configure the USB mode to "1.1" (if possible")  Boot time will be much slower, but report back if this solves the problem.

Ok, so I've tried with and without my usb keyboard plugged in and I get the same error message.  In my BIOS I have an option to disable the USB 2.0 controller which I have just tried. As was mentioned it was much slower, but now I'm locked on a different but similar message.

host/uhci.c: USB UHCI at I/O 0x8000, IRQ 15

usb.c: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 3

I don't know if this helps if any

OK, time for a duh, well of course it works moment.

I was currently under the impression that I was running the latest BIOS update for my motherboard. A borrowed USB Floppy Drive and a quick BIOS update and now I'm getting the Tower login!

Yikes, I thought the next time I would see a floppy disc would be shortly after paying admission to a museum. Strange how that seek noise makes me feel all nostalgic.

Anyways, the quick response from the powers that be on this board and the glowing praise that I have been reading on this on the avs forums gives me confidence that I'm heading in the right direction for a media storage solution.
