October 5, 201411 yr I have just installed a new av reciever and one of the things that sold me on it was its ability to connect to various internet apps like pandora , as well as home networks and media servers. however I have not been able to make the thing see the contents of my music folder , there is nothing useful found when googling to see if any one else has the same issue , so I am hoping that the unraid community can assist . Thanks

Thanks Have you tried installing Plex on your unRAID server and using that? If your receiver supports DLNA content streaming, Plex is a great solution for that.
October 5, 201411 yr Author I have xbmc on my htpc - will that play nice with plex on the unraid box? is there anythign I need to be careful of?
October 5, 201411 yr I have xbmc on my htpc - will that play nice with plex on the unraid box? is there anythign I need to be careful of? Plex I believe can integrate with XBMC, but doesn't have to. No reason you can't have Plex for your receiver and XBMC for your HTPC. No risk at all.
October 5, 201411 yr XBMC does not need Plex to access the media stored on your UNRAID server as XBMC can natively access the SMB Network shares on your server. Your Denon E400 however needs a DLNA Server in order to be able to access your music. My advice would be that you don't need to mess with PlexBMC on your XBMC machine. If XBMC is working with UNRAID then leave it be. That said Plex is a fantastic addition to your UNRAID server.
October 6, 201411 yr Author thanks for the response - do I need to add music folders to my library or am I good with just setting up the server. I ask because the shares do not seem to be visible to plex and I dont want to manually add the music folders off each disc- unless I have to
October 7, 201411 yr Japilch, I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. Could you please rephrase your question? Perhaps provide more details.
October 8, 201411 yr Author when adding folders to the library, network shares aren't visible, will i have to add the music folders off each disk individually or is there a way to add the share folder? 2nd - to just use the dnla server to I even need to use the library setup?
October 8, 201411 yr First: Yes, you need to setup your library with plex. Second: When setting up your Plex docker you need to setup volume mapping so that the docker can see your user shares. Here is a screenshot of my docker setup. Notice how I setup my 'Movies' and 'TV Shows' user shares are mapped to 'Movies' and 'TV' respectively. You need to do something similar with your music share. Also as far as I know this mapping can only be done when first setting up your plex docker. So you will likely need to delete your plex docker and add it again with whatever mappings you need to make to your user shares.
November 14, 201411 yr Since this is the 5.x support section, I wouldn't expect him to run the docker Plex. Afaik the official Plex release for UnRAID5 will require you to add the music folders from each physical disk, it sees the server filesystem, not the network shares, so you cannot use the user shares. But I might be wrong on this. And of course, on UnRAID 6 it's a completely different thing, and nothing I know anything about. /Lars Olof
